Due to a recent cabinet reshuffle, Colin Brooks MP has been appointed Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, and Child Protection and Family Services.

This means the Neighbourhood House sector now sits under Colin's portfolio.

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria Interim CEO Cameron MacRae said, "We congratulate Colin Brooks MP on his new appointment as the Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, and Child Protection and Family Services.

"We look forward to working with Colin and his team, advocating to rectify the funding insecurity currently being experienced by 210 Neighbourhood Houses/Networks. With short term certainty only provided until June 2024, the threat of significant cuts to important local community services and development – all across Victoria – is incredibly concerning to us.

"This will be our top priority heading into November’s State Election."

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria wishes to thank Anthony Carbines MP for his commitment and enthusiasm towards Neighbourhood Houses over the last year and a half. We wish him all the best in his new appointment as Minister for Police, Crime Prevention and Racing.

Colin Books MP is the local member for Bundoora, which is home to Watsonia Neighbourhood House and Mill Park Community Centre.
