Shine a Light on Prostate Cancer this September – Light Up Blue!
Prostate Cancer Awareness Month is coming up this September, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is calling on Neighbourhood Houses to get involved in a simple but powerful way: by lighting up your house in blue.
Last year, iconic sites like Melbourne Town Hall, Bolte Bridge, McRae Lighthouse, Dandenong’s Drum Theatre and Ballarat Town Hall joined the cause by turning blue for prostate cancer awareness. This year, we’d love to see Neighbourhood Houses across Victoria do the same. Whether it's for a day, a week, or all of September, lighting up in blue is a great way to show support, spark community interest, and raise awareness about prostate cancer, which affects 1 in 5 Australian men.
Invite PCFA to speak to your community
PCFA’s Life Force Program aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer throughout community groups and workplaces across Australia to encourage more men to take action to improve their health outcomes. Houses can book an online or in-person presentation by a trained PCFA representative via the link below:
PCFA have a range of information resources that can be downloaded or hard copies can be posted by filling in the order form. This includes digital or printable brochures, posters, and tiles for emails, electronic sign boards and intranet or social media platforms.
A few sample posters are attached and a range of Posters and social media tiles can also be downloaded.
Light up blue!
You can register your Neighbourhood House via PCFA's Light Up Blue web page and to help promote your efforts PCFA can provide a media release template to help you gain local coverage.
Need the colour code? PCFA blue is:
RGB: 0, 136, 204
PMS: 3005
Web: #0088cc
(But any blue will do!)
It might be as simple as getting some coloured globes or fairy lights.
