VCOSS

As relief efforts from the Victorian bushfires continue, and in many communities begin to transition to recovery, I wanted to share some updates and resources. Thank you for all the important work you are doing in your communities, and if you have any feedback that you'd like to share with us at VCOSS, please reach out to me via email or on 0417 387 516.
Relief and recovery information
The best place to find accurate and current information on relief and recovery supports is:
-
VicEmergency "relief and recovery" tab. This includes up-to-date information on the location and hours of relief centres and recovery hubs.
-
On the dedicated Vic Gov web page for bushfires relief and recovery
Additional government recovery announcements will be found here: https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/media-centre
Resources
VCOSS has compiled resources for individuals and community organisations here.
If you would like to add a resource to this page, please email it to me.
Webinar recording: Community sector briefing on bushfire relief and recovery
On Monday we held an online briefing for the sector with key agencies including Emergency Recovery Victoria, Department of Families Fairness and Housing, Municipal Association of Victoria, Consumer Affairs Victoria, and Disaster Legal Help Victoria. The webinar covered a situation update, information on key programs that have been announced, and how organisations can connect with recovery efforts.
A recording of the webinar can be found here.
Next VCOSS Disaster Resilience Network meeting
Our first Network meeting of 2026 will be on February 4th, and our agenda will focus on the impacts and responses to the bushfires, including the opportunity to hear from each other and provide updates on our local contexts.
I will send through a detailed agenda ahead of the meeting, and look forward to this opportunity to come together.
Community sector recovery coordination
VCOSS is planning to convene a weekly meeting for organisations across Vic that are involved in recovery efforts and wishing to coordinate our efforts. If you would like to be part of this group please get in touch with me.
