Membership types

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria memberships are organisation-based. 

There are three types of membership. Find out the eligibility requirements and annual fees for each category:

  • Full Membership
  • Associate Membership
  • Local Government Associate Membership
  • Membership fees

Full Membership

Organisations eligible for full membership are:

  • recognised by Neighbourhood Houses Victoria as being a neighbourhood house, learning centre, or neighbourhood house network;
  • not-for-profit community-based, community managed, independently incorporated associations, co-operatives or companies limited by guarantee;
  • located in Victoria

And additionally:

  • support the Statement of Purposes of Neighbourhood Houses Victoria
  • operate in accordance with the Sector Vision, Purpose, Philosophy, Principles and Practice Statements contained in the Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres Sector Framework

Apply for a Full Membership


Associate Membership

Organisations eligible for associate membership include:

  • neighbourhood houses which operate under the auspice of an incorporated not-for-profit non-government organisation or local government authority, and
    • the auspice body supports and recognises a neighbourhood house community based committee or reference group, independent of the auspice body, is responsible for overseeing the neighbourhood house program and functions of the house,
    • the neighbourhood house program maintains its integrity, identity and autonomy separate from the auspice body. 
  • organisations which are not neighbourhood houses or networks but support the neighbourhood house sector
  • organisations in or outside of Victoria 

And additionally:

  • support the Statement of Purposes of Neighbourhood Houses Victoria
  • operate in accordance with the Sector Vision, Purpose, Philosophy, Principles and Practice Statements contained in the Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres Sector Framework

Apply for an Associate Membership


Local Government Associate Membership

This membership applies to local government authorities for the council/shire as a whole. It does not apply to individual neighbourhood houses.

Fees

Membership fees are paid annually, determined by the organisation's gross income (use the figure from your most recent Annual Report).

Below are the fees for the 2022/23 financial year.

$50,000 - $100,000 $315
$100,001 - $250,000 $465
$250,001 - $500,000 $615
$500,001 - $1 million $765
$1,000,001 - $2.5 million $915
Greater than $2.5 million $1,065

Local Government Associate Membership: $500 (+GST)
