Carer Friendly

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria and Carers Victoria are excited to be partnering to extend support for carers to be healthy, active and connected through greater engagement with neighbourhood houses.

As part of that commitment we are inviting neighbourhood house staff and volunteers to become involved in the Carer Friendly program.

What is the Carer Friendly program?

By undertaking the short online Carer Friendly information modules, neighbourhood house staff and volunteers will gain a greater insight into the varied needs of carers and how they can better support carers.

On completion of all modules your neighbourhood house will get a Carer Friendly badge which can be displayed at the neighbourhood house, signalling to carers that the house is welcoming of carers and can link carers to supports and services they may need.

Carer Friendly neighbourhood houses will also be more strongly connected with and linked to Carers Victoria’s events, workshops, information and opportunities for both carers and staff.

The modules will be released in April 2021. Sign up below to receive them.

What’s covered in the Carer Friendly program?

You have already told us that you would like more information on:

  • services for carers
  • identifying carers
  • barriers for carers
  • carer benefits

The modules will cover these areas and more.

In total the modules will take less than two hours to complete, and can be completed at your own pace.

Benefits of taking the Carer Friendly program

Your neighbourhood house will benefit from:

  • greater understanding of carer needs
  • access to more information about carer services and supports
  • ideas on connecting carers to programs and pathways
  • displaying the Carer Friendly logo carers will immediately know they are welcome in a carer friendly space.
